About Adult Day
Welcome to JFK Hartwyck Adult Medical Day Center
You may want to keep your family member and/or loved one at home and as part of the community for as long as possible, but the time may come when that option is no longer possible. When loved ones have dementia, Alzheimer’s, developmental disabilities and other impairments, they may need attention and supervision with personal hygiene, eating and other activities of daily living, as well as with medication administration and social stimulation. JFK Hartwyck Adult Medical Day Care is an excellent solution. The Adult Medical Day Center enhances clients’ quality of life and helps them avoid or postpone placement in a long term care facility.
Clients are welcome on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., during which hours they are mentally stimulated and challenged, supported, nurtured, and medically cared for. Transportation is available within a limited distance of the center.
The JFK Hartwyck Adult Medical Day Center is affiliated with JFK Medical Center and Solaris Health System. The center is licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services and is a member of the New Jersey Adult Day Care Association.
The program has two tracks: The Medical Program is for clients who may be unable to stay home alone due to medication needs and/or physical limitations. The Alzheimer’s/Dementia Program also accepts clients with developmental disabilities and clients who are incontinent.
Each program has its own highly skilled staff, and participants enjoy separate activities tailored to their needs. Twice monthly, children from an on-site daycare center visit as part of an intergenerational program.
Individuals in both the dementia and medical programs remain under the care of their personal physician, and our staff works closely with private physicians to monitor patients’ medical needs.
Specialized services include:
- Nurses who administer medications and monitor vital signs and weight
- Nutritional counseling
- Recreational therapy
- Social work services
- Support groups for caregivers
Recreational therapists provide age-appropriate activities including such things as special events, exercise, arts and crafts, movies, trips, bingo, cooking, pet therapy and educational lectures and discussions. Our social worker provides continuous supportive services for clients and their care partners, including counseling and community referrals.
Because we are affiliated with Solaris Health System we can provide clients with diagnostic and therapeutic services such as physical, occupational and speech therapy as prescribed by their physician.
JFK Hartwyck is an affiliate of the Solaris Health Care System and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
